Senior Care Options (SCO)

Senior Care Options are voluntary programs that are available to anyone 65 and older who qualifies for MassHealth Standard. Once enrolled, a member may dis-enroll any month of the year.

SCOs are comprehensive health plans which provide a fully integrated geriatric model of care. Benefits include medical, hospital, behavioral health, Medicare prescription drug and MassHealth prescription drug coverage--all in one plan. Some additional benefits are:  transportation to medical appointments; home- and community-based services; and Geriatric Services Support Coordination (GSSC).  SCO programs authorize, deliver, and coordinate all services covered by Medicare and Medicaid and also include care coordination.  There are no co-pays for members enrolled in SCO.

GLSS provides GSSC to SCO members in our catchment area.  GLSS has a contract with UnitedHealthcare SCO, Commonwealth Care Alliance SCO, Senior Whole Health, Fallon Navicare, and Tufts Health Plan SCO.
