Upcoming events and exciting news at Greater Lynn Senior Services

The Food Project will be holding a farmers market on Saturday, April 4th and Saturday, April 18th from 11:00 to 3:00 PM. The market will take place outdoors at the MBTA site (Mount Vernon Street at Exchange Street) where the summer farmers markets take place. All produce can be purchased with SNAP, HIP, credit, debit, and cash. The Food Project has been approved by the city public health division to hold this market with the following precautions and protocols.

Customers should NOT come if they are feeling sick, have been in contact with anyone who has been diagnosed with COVID19, or have travelled outside MA in the past 14 days. As a reminder, seniors, immuno-compromised folks, can send their EBT cards with friends and family to purchase produce for them - vendors are not permitted to ask for any ID.

Public Health and Safety Measures

  • Officials from the Lynn Food and Fitness Alliance will be present to ensure safe practices
  • Customers who are waiting in line to enter the market space must wait 6 feet apart from each other - spots where customers can wait will be marked on the ground. This will be enforced by market staff.
  • If there are too many people, customers will be asked to leave and return at a later time.
  • Vendors will disinfect cards and card terminals between every transaction.
  • DO NOT come to the market if you have recently travelled outside of MA in the last 14 days. All travelers arriving to Massachusetts are instructed to self-quarantine for 14 days after arriving.
  • DO NOT come to the market if you have been in contact with anyone who has been exposed to COVID-19.
  • DO NOT come to the market if you are feeling ill.
  • This is plenty of time to shop, and there will be produce available for everyone, so please DO NOT line up early for the market.
  • A handwashing station will be available for customers
  • Produce will be sold in $10 pre-bagged packages. Customers can purchase multiple. Customers CANNOT directly handle the produce.

How can I keep myself and others safe at the market?

  • Follow all social distancing measures enforced by market staff
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • DO NOT come to the market if you have travelled outside MA in the last 14 days, or been in touch with someone who has a case of COVID-19.
  • DO NOT come to the market if you are feeling ill.
  • Remember that you can send a friend or family member to the market with your EBT card (or your EBT card information) to shop on your behalf. This is especially good to note if you are elderly or otherwise more susceptible to illness.
  • The market is open from 11 to 3! This is plenty of time to shop, and there will be produce available for everyone, so please DO NOT line up early for the market.
