Who We Are

Heralded for our cutting-edge approach to promoting consumer health and well-being, and overall community livability through a variety of new outcomes-driven programs, Greater Lynn Senior Services is the nonprofit Aging Services Access Point and Area Agency on Aging serving people age 60 and older and adults living with disabilities in Lynn, Lynnfield, Nahant, Saugus, and Swampscott, MA.  Through our leadership role in Greater North Shore Link (formerly, the Aging and Disability Resource Consortium of the Greater North Shore, Inc.), and its delivery of long-term services and supports to people age 3 and older throughout the North Shore and Merrimack Valley, the Agency’s reach and impact extend well beyond our five-community service area with a focus on creating more livable communities for all.

  • We deliver close to 225,000 “Meals on Wheels” to homes every year and serve another 65,000 at lunch sites located at local senior centers, day programs, and housing sites.
  • We are at work in the homes of over 5,000 seniors and adults living with disabilities in the Greater Lynn area every day, so they can hold on to something of immeasurable value:  their ability to live independently.
  • We employ close to 200 staff and many volunteers who donate their time to help.
  • We are a federal Area Agency on Aging (AAA) and state certified as an Aging Services Access Point (ASAP).
  • We are part of the One Care program, offered in Essex County by Commonwealth Care Alliance, providing Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS) to people age 21-64 who are eligible for both MassHealth and Medicare.
  • We belong to the Mass Home Care network, a group of 30 nonprofits dedicated to serving seniors in every city and town in Massachusetts and a member of the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging (n4a), the umbrella organization for the 655 AAAs in the United States.
  • We are an affiliated partner in the North Region LTSS Partnership--or NRLP--a state designated Long-Term Services and Supports Community Partner (LTSS CP), providing LTSS Coordination to MassHealth members age 3-64 in ACO and MCO health plans in communities across the North Shore and Merrimack Valley.
  • We are a lead member of Greater North Shore Link (formerly, the Aging and Disability Resource Consortium of the Greater North Shore, Inc.).

GLSS and its programs are funded, in whole or in part, by contracts or grants with the federal Administration for Community Living, Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs, local funds, foundations, and private contributions.

Home Care Services

Doing whatever we can to help you maintain your independence.

Every day in the Greater Lynn area, we’re at work in the homes of more than 4,000 seniors and people with disabilities. Why? So that they can hold on to something of immeasurable value: their ability to live independently.  We also offer respite services for caregivers. Our staff includes bi-cultural Russian, Spanish, and Khmer case managers to ensure culturally sensitive care. We provide translation for other languages as well.

Health and Well-Being

Nothing is more important to us than helping you stay healthy, happy, and active in your own unique way.

Your health and well-being are vital components of independent living. We offer a variety of programs and workshops to help you feel better and stay connected -- sign up for a Wellness Pathways workshop; speak with a counselor; or join a support group.

Helping and Protecting Elders

Elder abuse and neglect happen all too often. But we’re doing something about these problems.

In a year, GLSS will advocate for and help protect over 400 elders within the community. We’ll also make hundreds of visits to area nursing homes, to assess their quality of care. GLSS is deeply committed to protecting the safety and dignity of elders. Our Protective Services unit investigates reports of elder abuse or neglect and intervenes as needed.

Counseling and Support

We're here to lend an ear, some advice, and support in a safe, secure, judgment-free setting.

Getting older isn’t always easy.  Sometimes it helps to get some advice, speak with a professional counselor, or talk with others in a group setting who are experiencing the same feelings you are.  Through several programs, we offer confidential, one-on-one and group counseling in support of caregivers and older adults living with other life challenges.

Meals

Tasty, nutritious. And we deliver.

Every weekday, Monday through Friday, our Meals on Wheels drivers visit close to 800 home-bound seniors to deliver a hot, nutritious lunch. At the same time, hundreds of others join us for lunch or supper at one of our convenient community cafés in the five-town area.

Transportation

Need help finding a ride?

We can help you find ways to get to your doctor's office, grocery store, and even your friend's house. Our travel counselors and travel trainers can help you safely navigate the community.

In partnership with the Executive Office of Elder Affairs, we are conducting a needs assessment which will reshape our policies and programs to better meet your needs and promote greater independence and well-being for our seniors.
