The GLSS Area Plan

The GLSS 2018-2021 Area Plan is intended to serve as a blueprint for the agency’s Title III-funded programs while also sketching out key elements of GLSS’s overall future directions. The Area Plan was approved by Elder Affairs, noting GLSS’ “commitment to address the revealed needs of the area with strategies and programs that focus on housing and transportation insecurity, addressing affordable health care, and services that support consumer independence – including serving elders with language barriers and promoting healthy aging – indicates the agency’s dedication to elders and their caregivers.  The Plan is well composed, rich in content, and delivers an engaged effort in directing a comprehensive and coordinated system for serving elders in the PSA."

Changes in how to report elder abuse.

Beginning July 1st, 2017 the Executive Office of Elder Affairs will centralize the Elder Protective Services abuse reporting system (elder abuse hotline) to a single phone number.

The 24/7 single phone number will simplify the process for elder abuse reporting. All calls (day or night, 7 days a week) will go directly to the Massachusetts-based call center at 1-800-922-2275, regardless of the location of the reporter or the elder.

While the initial report intake will be centralized, all reports will continue to be referred to and handled by local Protective Services Agencies for screening, investigation, and service planning.

To report suspected elder abuse, please call the statewide 24-hour hotline at 1-800-922-2275

Cummings Foundation

Each year, Cummings Foundation awards grants of $100,000 each to 100 local nonprofits. This $10 million in funding supports a diverse range of causes, including human services, education, healthcare, and social justice. While some of these grants are made as single-year awards, most are multi-year awards, with payments spread over two to 10 years.

Greater Lynn Senior Services is proud to announce that they are a recipient of one of the awards.

According to Paul Crowley, “we are greatly pleased that the grant will support the expansion of GLSS’ Elder Mobile Mental Health Program (EMMH), to several North Shore communities.  The EMMH program delivers a range of critical mental health services to vulnerable elders and integrates them into the home environment.  In the past seven years GLSS has helped over 300 consumers improve the quality of their lives through the EMMH program."
