2019 Veterans to Washington Trip

In May 2019, Greater Lynn Senior Services (GLSS), in conjunction with the Lynn Council on Aging and local veterans organizations, will take 50 Korean and Vietnam Era veterans on a 3-day bus tour to Washington, DC.  For many, it will be the trip of a lifetime.

GLSS has generously offered to help organize the trip and serve as a lead sponsor.  We are actively soliciting donations from the business community, but we also need your help to make the trip a reality!  Your tax-deductible donation in any amount will honor our veterans and be greatly appreciated.

The GLSS Area Plan

The GLSS 2018-2021 Area Plan is intended to serve as a blueprint for the agency’s Title III-funded programs while also sketching out key elements of GLSS’s overall future directions. The Area Plan was approved by Elder Affairs, noting GLSS’ “commitment to address the revealed needs of the area with strategies and programs that focus on housing and transportation insecurity, addressing affordable health care, and services that support consumer independence – including serving elders with language barriers and promoting healthy aging – indicates the agency’s dedication to elders and their caregivers.  The Plan is well composed, rich in content, and delivers an engaged effort in directing a comprehensive and coordinated system for serving elders in the PSA."

Changes in how to report elder abuse.

Beginning July 1st, 2017 the Executive Office of Elder Affairs will centralize the Elder Protective Services abuse reporting system (elder abuse hotline) to a single phone number.

The 24/7 single phone number will simplify the process for elder abuse reporting. All calls (day or night, 7 days a week) will go directly to the Massachusetts-based call center at 1-800-922-2275, regardless of the location of the reporter or the elder.

While the initial report intake will be centralized, all reports will continue to be referred to and handled by local Protective Services Agencies for screening, investigation, and service planning.

To report suspected elder abuse, please call the statewide 24-hour hotline at 1-800-922-2275
